Your university will have its own enrolment steps. Complete them early, because bank letters, student status letters and campus access often depend on enrolment.
- Keep eVisa/entry evidence and passport copies.
- Collect student ID and confirm your term address.
- Attend international orientation even if it feels basic.
Money, housing and Council Tax
Student housing rules are different from normal renting. Full-time student households are usually exempt from Council Tax, but you must prove student status.
- Ask your university for a bank letter and council tax student certificate.
- Check contract length, guarantor rules and deposit protection.
- Budget for societies, transport, books, winter clothes and holidays.

Register with a GP, learn how urgent care works and use student support before problems become emergencies.
- Register with a GP near campus or home.
- Save NHS 111 for urgent advice and 999 for emergencies.
- Join one society or routine in the first month.
